At Nelson Nursery, we know that the very best beginnings happen in a warm, inspiring environment where children feel safe, happy and free to explore. Our spacious and stimulating nursery spaces – both indoors and out – are designed to spark curiosity and imagination to help every child blossom and grow.
Our nursery sessions are guided by a qualified teacher and supported by skilled teaching assistants, who create a calm, caring space where every child feels valued. With a child-led approach at the heart of our practice, we provide stimulating opportunities that inspire curiosity, encourage children to embrace challenges, and support them in expressing their ideas and feelings as they grow in confidence and understanding of themselves, others, and the world around them.
The caring and dedicated nursery team work closely with families to build strong, trusting relationships that support and nurture every child’s emotional, social and intellectual growth. Through high-quality interactions, child-led play and exploration, we lay the foundations for a lifelong love of learning.

As an integral part of Nelson Infant School, our nursery provides a seamless and supportive transition into Reception. From the start, children quickly get to know our caring staff, routines and environment, helping them feel secure and confident. This builds strong foundations and nurtures the independence, curiosity and self-belief children need to flourish as they move into the infant school and beyond.
Session Times
Children that are 3 years old can attend:
Morning session: 8.45am to 11.45am
Afternoon session: 12.15pm to 3.15pm
Full-day attendance is available for families using Government funded hours or those booking additional sessions. Children staying all day will need to bring their own packed lunch.
Additional sessions can be purchased at £25 per session.
Admissions and funding
Children can attend Nelson nursery as soon as they turn 3 years old and we are pleased to accept government funding for eligible children.
